JONESBORO — The Jonesboro City Council recently recognized local teachers and paraprofessionals of the year.
At its Monday, Nov. 13 meeting, the Council honored Clayton County Public Schools Teacher of the Year Daisha Taylor — a fifth grade math and science at Church Street Elementary School in Riverdale.
The following school-wide Teachers of the Year were also honored:
Lee Street Elementary School Teacher of the Year: Rachel Freston.
Arnold Elementary School Teacher of the Year: Lashay Brown.
Suder Elementary School Teacher of the Year: Ashland Adams.
Jonesboro Middle School Teacher of the Year: Shawonda Smith
Jonesboro High School Teacher of the Year: Martina Morris-Orr.
The following Parapros of the Year were honored:
Lee Street Elementary School Para of the Year (support staff of the year): Jamila Jenkins.
Suder Elementary School Paraprofessional of the Year: Jackie Kimbrough.
Jonesboro Middle School Paraprofessional of the Year (Student Engagement Specialist): Estellena Scott.
