JONESBORO — In its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 6, the Clayton County Board of Education unanimously approved a $13.8 million bid for central office renovations.
The contract is with Construction Works, Inc. and the project is being paid from SPLOST money.
Additional costs for the project include architectural/engineering fees, furniture, equipment, and contingencies to bring the total cost to about $16.74 million.
Renovations and modifications to the building includes new HVAC, lighting, restroom modernizations, new finishes, burglar alarm, fire alarm, access control, and video surveillance upgrades.
Exterior improvements include roof replacement, landscaping, and parking lot improvements.
The project will take about a year, Chief Capital Improvement Officer Ronick Joseph said during an Oct. 30 work session.
The central office is at 1058 Fifth Ave., Jonesboro.
Also during the Nov. 6 meeting, the School Board approved a $6.4 million bid from Meja Construction for the renovations at the K.W. White Maintenance Complex.
Architectural/engineering fees, furniture, equipment, and contingencies costs will bring the total cost to more than $7.5 million.
The project includes renovations of an office building and warehouse.
The warehouse renovation will include the replacement of the current metal roof with a TPO roofing system and the replacement of the district’s primary cooler and freezer.
The office building renovation will include new finishes, casework and replacement of the HVAC system, and lighting throughout.
