JONESBORO — The proposed 2024 Clayton County Public Schools graduation dates are May 20, 22, 23, and 24 as the dates and times were presented to the Clayton County Board of Education during an Oct. 30 work session.
The proposed dates (all graduations to be held at the Georgia International Convention Center, except for Elite Scholars at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center):
— Elite Scholars Academy at 7 p.m.
— Charles Drew High from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
— Mundy’s Mill High from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Lovejoy High, 8 to 9:30 a.m.
North Clayton High, noon to 1:30 p.m.
Mt. Zion High, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Forest Park High, 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Morrow High, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Riverdale High, noon to 1:30 p.m.
Jonesboro High, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Stilwell School of the Arts, 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Perry Center Career Academy students will graduate in the ceremonies of their home schools, according to the proposal.
School Board member Mary Baker and School Board Chair Jessie Goree both raised questions about Perry not having its own graduation ceremony.
Goree also had questions about having graduations at 8 a.m.
Superintendent Anthony Smith said the school system will have more flexibility with graduation dates and times in a few years with the new Convocation Center that’s being built at the old Sears site at Southlake Mall.
