JONESBORO — Dozens of local residents will have a warmer winter thanks to a recent coat drive by the Millar Law Firm, Community Center Church, and Crane Hardware.
The coats were collected as part of Millar Law Firm’s affiliation with the national non-profit organization One Warm Coat.
The local drive collected 77 coats, 33 scarves, 63 pairs of gloves, and 13 hats while $45 was also collected online.
“Working with One Warm Coat was a great experience,” said the Rev. Michael P. Howington, senior pastor of Community Center Church. “There is a real need for coats in our community and throughout the country as 37 million Americans are living at or below the poverty level and struggling to afford necessities. One Warm Coat’s program made it easy for us to make a difference and share much needed warmth. We had a goal of collecting as many items as possible, and we went above and beyond our expectations.”
Since 1992, One Warm Coat has worked with their volunteers to collect and distribute more than 8 million coats across the United States and Canada.
“We are grateful to the Clayton County community for coming together to donate to Millar Law Firm’s One Warm Coat Drive and thankful to Millar Law Firm, Community Center Church, and Crane Hardware for sharing warmth one coat at a time,” said One Warm Coat President and CEOBeth W. Amodio.
One Warm Coat is a national cloud-based non-profit organization that provides free coats to children and adults in need while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability.
