JONESBORO — During a special called meeting Oct. 23, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to remove District 3 Commissioner Felicia Franklin as vice chair.
County Commissioners also unanimously voted to suspend two sections of the Board’s rules related to Franklin’s board appointments and zoning recommendations.
For the next 12 months, beginning Oct. 23, board appointments from District 3 will be on an at-large basis and motions in zoning requests for District 3 will be initiated by the presiding officer.

Franklin — who is also running as County Commission chair — did not attend the Oct. 23 meeting but did post a response to the meeting on her Facebook page.
“My time as vice chair was up for expiration at the end of this year, (Dec. 31, 2023),” she wrote. “Therefore, there is no need to haggle with them over this. This move by them will free up more of my time a month early so that I can fully commit to becoming elected to the chairman’s seat so that we can finally move our county forward.
