JONESBORO — A hearing is scheduled Monday, Nov. 6 to determine the legality of an investigative report on Jonesboro Mayor Donya Sartor.
The hearing is slated Nov. 6 at 8 a.m. before Clayton County Superior Court Judge Robert Mack Jr. in Courtroom 401 of the Harold R. Banke Justice Center, 9151 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro.
According to Clayton County Court records, the case was filed Sept. 11 — the same day the Jonesboro City Council unanimously voted to appoint attorney Tracy Lawson to conduct an independent administrative investigation into allegations raised against Sartor.
The investigative report was submitted to the Jonesboro City Council on Oct. 11 and a special called meeting was scheduled on Oct. 16 to release the report. The meeting was later cancelled after Mack signed a temporary restraining order on Oct. 16 preventing the City Council, Interim City Manager David Allen, Police Chief Tommy Henderson, and City Attorney Danielle Matricardi from releasing the report. The City Council (Tracey Messick, Don Dixon, Alfred Dixon, Ed Wise, Billy Powell, and Bobby Lester), Allen, Henderson, and Matricardi are also named as defendants in the Nov. 6 hearing.
The Clayton News-Daily received a copy of the report on Oct. 13 and other media outlets obtained the report as well.
The investigation report outlines several incidents related to Sartor’s conduct as mayor — including an accusation from a police officer that Sartor pulled a gun on him at Jonesboro City Center, accusations of Sartor requesting employees make contributions to her re-election campaign, two occasions where Sartor allegedly interfered with police incidents, Sartor allegedly using city staff and resources for personal use, and her conduct in dealing with the owners of a local automotive garage that provided services for the city of Jonesboro.
