JONESBORO — At its regular meeting on Oct. 2, the Clayton County Board of Education recognized Elite Scholars Academy for its achievements on the 2023 SAT and 2022-23 Cambridge International Assessments.
Elite Scholars Academy led the district on SAT scores.
Elite Scholars Academy’s 2023 score (1123) represents a 24-point increase over the 2022 composite and was 120 points higher than the national average (1003) and 78 points higher than Georgia Public School’s (1045) score.
Elite Scholars students also outperformed their counterparts in the nation’s Cambridge International schools on the 2022-23 Cambridge International Assessments.
On the Cambridge English General Paper course assessment, 94% of Elite Scholars freshmen earned passing scores on the English General Paper assessment — surpassing the 76% national passing percentage.
On the Cambridge English Language assessment, 80% of Elite Scholars sophomores earned passing scores — better than the 62% national passing percentage and 64% international passing percentage.
Other recognitions during the meeting included:
♦ Howard Langford, CCPS director of Information Systems in the Division of Technology, recently earned TrustEd Apps Certified Leader (TACL) Professional Certification from 1EdTech.
♦ The school board recognized Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts students who performed at the beginning of the meeting in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month — Ange Sanchez, Nataly Yanez, Ariel Woods, Vy Truong, Shamya Malone, Thairy Gallo, and Arely Parra. The Board also recognized Stilwell student Jordan Fair, who led the Pledge of Allegiance in English and Spanish.
♦ C.H. Braddy, of Now Faith Apostolic Ministries, was recognized for his ongoing support of various activities throughout the district.
