JONESBORO — The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that a corrections officer was arrested trying to bring contraband into the Clayton County Jail.
According to CCSO Nixle alert, Desiree Lowery crossed the guard line and tried to enter the jail with contraband Saturday.
Lowery was stopped by an on-duty supervisor, became nervous, and attempted to make her getaway, the CCSO said.
According to Clayton County Jail records, Lowery, 27, of 6403 Treecrest Parkway, Decatur, is charged with violation of oath of a public officer, giving an inmate gun/drugs/alcohol, criminal attempt, and crossing guard line with gun/drugs/alcohol.
According to Clayton County Court records, Lowery was scheduled for a first appearance hearing Oct. 9 in Magistrate Court.
The CCSO said Lowery was immediately terminated.
