Clayton County Commission Vice Chair Felicia Franklin said she was the recent victim of a being drugged with GHB pill, also know the “date rape drug.”
Franklin posted the announcement on her Facebook page on Oct. 3.
“I want to share a deeply personal and troubling experience that I recently faced while attending an event here in our very community,” she said in the statement. “It is believed by medical professionals that I was drugged with a GHB pill, more commonly known as the ‘date rape pill,’ and this incident has shaken me to my core.”
She said she was safe and did not leave the facility until Morrow EMS personnel arrived and rendered aid.
“While I am still processing the details, I am committed to shedding light on this issue,” she wrote. “I believe it’s crucial to use this moment as a catalyst for change. I will be working closely with authorities to ensure that justice is served, and I will also be advocating for improved safety measures at events like these.”
According to reporting by WSB-TV, Franklin is cooperating with a Morrow Police Department investigation.
According to WSB, the incident occurred at 404 Sports Bar and Grill and a Lake City Police officer found a female lying on a bench and crying and later appeared to have passed out.
According to the WSB reporting, Franklin was combative as she was EMS personnel were trying to evaluate her and transport her to Spalding Regional Medical Center.
