JONESBORO — Clayton County Extension is holding a Beekeeper Short Course starting Oct. 12.
The classes are for those who are interested in understanding honey bees and the role of a beekeeper.
Classes are scheduled Oct. 12, 17, and 19 at the Clayton County Extension Officer, 1262 Government Circle, Jonesboro.
A rundown of the classes:
Thursday, Oct. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m.: These classes will cover the introduction to the class and hive assembly.
Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m.: These classes will cover nucleus colonies, packages, and swarms, and hive manipulation.
Thursday, Oct. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m.: These classes will cover common issues and extracting honey.
All participants will receive the following free handouts — Short Course Book, Quick Farm Supply List, and Quick Farm Bee Order Form.
Henry County Beekeepers President Tom Bonnell will teach the class.
