JONESBORO — A Fairburn man who is already in the Clayton County Jail has been charged in connection to a 2019 murder in College Park.
On Monday, Sept. 18, the Clayton County Police Department obtained a murder warrant Travaughn L. Gordon, 21, of 5474 Oakley Industrial Blvd., Apt. 526, Fairburn, for the 2019 murder of Bobbie Jackson.
According to the CCPD, an eye witness was identified in the case and gave police new details as well as corroborating other known facts.
The CCPD was able to determine Gordon shot Jackson multiple times after the two agreed to meet for a drug deal.
Gordon has been charged with armed robbery, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.
He was already in the Clayton County Jail on multiple charges, Clayton Police said.
According to Clayton County Jail records, he faces a total of 37 charges including conspiracy to commit a crime, interference with government property, giving inmate drugs/alcohol, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, riot in penal institution, RICO, false imprisonment, battery, and participation in criminal gang activity.
According to Clayton County court records, Vaughn has two upcoming preliminary hearings in Magistrate Court on Oct. 3 and Oct. 24.
On Nov. 1, 2019, the GBI notified CCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division that on Oct. 25, 2019 Jackson died at Grady Hospital as a result of being shot multiple times in Clayton County.
Detectives learned Jackson was treated for his wounds at Southern Regional Medical Center and then transported to Grady, where he remained until his death.
After reviewing Jackson’s medical records, the CCPD learned he arrived at SRMC with several gunshot wounds on Sept. 9, 2019 at about 1 a.m.
