Clayton County School Superintendent Anthony Smith and Clayton County Commissioner Alieka Anderson have been selected as 2023 Torch Award Honorees for the Rising in Community Excellence Awards.
The 2023 award ceremony is scheduled to be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Morrow Center, 1180 Southlake Circle, Morrow.
The 13th Annual RICE Awards, sponsored by Carter Unlimited LLC of Atlanta, are given to individuals who demonstrate keen awareness about community needs and step into the fray, lending a hand and making things better. Selected by a panel of industry professionals, community leaders, and everyday citizens, each nominee/awardee is a community leader who has used their position to develop or implement programs that have changed the face of the communities.
“I am thrilled to be a Torch Award Honoree at this year’s RICE Awards,” said Anderson. “Being recognized for my vision, and commitment to this county through my work with the Board of Commissioners is truly an honor. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to represent Clayton County, where the world lands and opportunities take off.”
