JONESBORO — The Michelle Obama Elementary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Academy recently received a donation of Chromebooks from Cigna Healthcare.
The computers, valued at $406,129, will be used to extend Learning Beyond the Classroom and to encourage STEM exploration by the Obama students.
Receiving the gift from Cigna’s Elyssa Barneski were School Superintendent Anthony W. Smith, CCPS Director of Partnerships, Governmental Relations, and Grants Lonnie Smith, Obama STEM Academy Principal Marcia Payton-Edwards, and Assistant Principals Karisa Walker and Bonita Adams.
This is the second gift of computers that the STEM Academy has received from Cigna Healthcare.
In 2022, the school received 100 Lenovo Chromebooks valued at $40,617. They were used to establish computer centers throughout the school to support student discovery.
